Lippenhuizen (Lippenhuzen) was originally a farmer's village, which was called Kobunderhuizen in the past.  Via the Turfroute, a beautiful, touristic waterway which runs through south-east Friesland, the village is connected with Hemrik, Gorredijk and Terwispel.

This part of the Turfroute leads through the beautiful scenic landscape, which can be admired on foot or by bike.  A nice outing can be taken to the Liphústerheide, a beautiful heath field along the Alddijp.  Whenever you're in the mood for a bite to eat or drink, there are various catering establishments in the village to fulfil your needs.  You can spend the night at the local campsite.
